INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION
YOU FIRST EXPRESS Intermodal transportation involves moving freight using two or more modes of transport (trucking, rail, or ocean) without handling the freight. Intermodal freight transportation combines the best features of different transportation modes to deliver service, solutions, and savings to shippers. DOOR-TO-DOOR RAIL FREIGHT
Yes, shipping freight by rail can
reach your business’ doorstep –
it appears seemingly like a full
truckload, door-to-door service.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1. A rail container is delivered
by truck to the shipper’s dock for
loading
Step 2. The loaded container is
picked-up by truck and transported
to the nearest rail service center
Step 3. The rail freight shipment travels via rail to its predetermined rail ramp
Step 4. At the rail ramp, the rail container is transferred via truck to the final destination.
YOU FIRST EXPRESS RAIL FREIGHT TRANSIT TIME
Typical transit time for coast-to-coast delivery is 7 to 10 days. Trains operate on a regularly scheduled service throughout North America. BGI offers shipment tracking so your intermodal freight is monitored from origin to destination.
